The Armenian government decided Thursday to purchase higher quality vaccines for vaccination of children.
YEREVAN, July 20. /ARKA/. The Armenian government decided Thursday to purchase higher quality vaccines for vaccination of children. The Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan said higher quality vaccines will be acquired through the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF).
He said the decision is prompted by the need to save budget funds and ensure high quality vaccination. As a result, he said, the children will be provided with safe and effective vaccines.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health announced changes in the policy of vaccination and the transition from pentavalent (diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, hepatitis B, and hemophilia B) and the oral vaccination system to one hexavalent inoculation.
Under the current procedure, the child receives four doses of pentavalent inoculation, six doses of oral vaccination and one dose of a deactivated polio vaccine. As a result of the changes, the child will receive the necessary four doses of hexavalent inoculation. -0-
