YEREVAN, 9 October. /ARKA/. The Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) of Armenia has approved new rules on compensation for frequent power cuts and water supply interruptions.

According to the decision, in case of repeated violation within one calendar year of any of the deadlines set by the Rules of Distribution Networks for emergency interruption of electricity supply to the consumer and its restoration, the national energy distribution company Electric Networks of Armenia will pay a fine of 50% of the average monthly cost of consumed electricity, but not more than AMD 10,000.

Similar norms are set out in the Rules on Provision of Drinking Water Supply and Wastewater Treatment Services. The new rules will come into force from 1 January 2025.

The PSRC reminded that according to the Rules of Distribution Networks in the Electricity Market, in case of violation of the order or terms of planned, emergency power supply interruption, as well as its restoration, the distribution company pays penalties in the amount of 50% of the average monthly cost of consumed electricity, but not more than 2500 drams.

Besides, in case of twofold exceeding of the terms for restoration of electricity supply, Electric Networks of Armenia will pay consumers penalties in the amount of 50% of the average monthly cost of the consumed electricity, but not more than 3500 drams. This change will also come into effect from 1 January 2025. ($1 - 387.06 drams).-0-
