YEREVAN, February 27. /ARKA/. From the beginning of the year to February 24, 2025, about 2,486 citizens who filed income tax returns received refunds (social credit) in the amount of 232 million drams, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said today.

“This may seem like a large amount, but I would like to note that we are talking about only 232 million drams out of 74 billion drams of income tax payments. I would like to once again urge all of us to more actively submit the universal income declaration system,” he said at a government meeting on Thursday.

Pashinyn asked Ministers of Health and Education, Science, Culture and Sports to develop special packages for citizens who want to spend their loans.

The "social credit" system provides for compensation of citizens' expenses in two main areas - education and healthcare, by returning a portion of the income tax they paid. The refund for medical services is 50 thousand drams, and for educational services – 100,000 drams per year for each working family member.

Recently, the government decided to expand the scope of the system to include sports, music, dance centers, additional education institutions, rental of school textbooks, dental services. As a prerequisite, a requirement for cashless payment for the service was introduced.

In total, about 3,800 people used the system in 2024, and they were refunded 340 million drams. ($1 - 393.51 drams).
