YEREVAN, January 29. /ARKA/. The Yerevan Municipality has revised its plans to  introduce a new public transport ticketing system, Mayor Tigran Avinyan announced late on Tuesday. He said the new system will come into force  starting February 1. It sets the cost of one ride at 150 drams. According to Avinyan, this change will remain in effect throughout 2025.

"The proposed 150 drams for one ride can be changed by a maximum of 10 drams per year, but only as part of gradual reforms," he said.

Avinyan also noted that city authorities want residents to become familiar with the benefits of the new ticketing system.

"We plan to extend the validity of unlimited travel packages purchased in January and February by an additional month. This means that if you purchased a monthly package in January or February, you will receive two months of service instead of one. Similarly, if you bought a quarterly or annual package, you will receive an additional month," he added.

About the unified ticket system

On January 1, 2025, Yerevan introduced a unified ticket system, which means cash payments are no longer accepted on buses, trolleybuses, and the metro. Several payment methods are available, including paper one-time tickets with QR codes (from TelCell terminals), a mobile app, permanent transport cards, and bank cards.-0-
