YEREVAN, October 29. /ARKA/. Construction of a new underground railway station (Metro) in Yerevan may start in spring of 2020, Deputy Mayor Hayk Sargsyan told reporters on Tuesday.

He said a preliminary agreement was reached with the investor that he would  start from financing the design of the new station that will connect the Ajapnyak district of Yerevan with the rest of the city by a bridge across the Hrazdan River.

The vice mayor said the investor is willing  to build a metro station along with a business center and a mall, which will located near the station.

According to the  vice mayor, representatives of the investor visited Yerevan recently to see what has been done so far and whether the project is feasible.

"We reached an agreement that the construction of the station will begin after we discuss the design of the business center and the bridge that must meet our requirements. We hope that work will begin next spring," Sargsyan said.

The Yerevan Metro was inaugurated in 1981. Currently, it has ten  stations with the total length of 13.4 kilometers. -0-
