Construction and renovation of 223 schools begun in Armenia over three years – Minister
YEREVAN, October 29. /ARKA/. From 2021 to 2024, construction and renovation of 223 schools began in Armenia, stated Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan during budget discussions in parliament.
She noted that 192 schools were built in Armenia from 1991 to 2017, most of which were in the disaster zone affected by the Spitak earthquake. Of the current projects, 183 schools will be built from scratch, and 35 have already been completed, taking into account all requirements, including seismic resistance. Such progress was made possible by the government’s adoption of a unified standard for buildings and real estate.
In addition, as part of the program to build and renovate 500 kindergartens, the government has approved plans for 364 institutions, of which 157 have been completed.
As for the project to equip all educational institutions with laboratories, the minister said that 648 schools have already completed or are in the final stages of equipping laboratories, and all of them will be operational by the end of the year. -0-
