YEREVAN, June 20. /ARKA/. Armenian defense ministry’s press office reported today that the ministry is keeping a close eye on the investigation launched into an incident at a Yerevan restaurant involving three military medics who were severely beaten by the staff of Harsnakar restaurant said to be owned by the family of Ruben Hayrapetyan, an influential parliament member and the president of the Armenian Football Federation.

All the three men were hospitalized with serious injuries. One of them, Major Vahe Avetian, remained in critical condition on Tuesday. Doctors said he suffered life-threatening head injuries.

“The defense ministry is watching closely the course of the investigation launched into the incident and expresses confidence that offenders will be punished to the full extent of the law,” the ministry’s statement says.

The ministry says it strongly condemns infringement on every citizen’s rights regardless of whether he/she is an ordinary citizen, a conscript or a career officer.

“The ministry expresses support for the people who suffered in this incident and their relatives and assures them that it is not indifferent toward insolence in the society,” the statement says. M.V.-0---
