The Eurasian Economic Commission Board has approved new health warnings on cigarette packs to inform smokers about the health hazards of smoking and encourage smokers to quit.

YEREVAN, March 18. /ARKA/. The Eurasian Economic Commission Board has approved new health warnings on cigarette packs to inform smokers about the health hazards of smoking and encourage smokers to quit.
The graphic (pictorial) health warnings must cover the top 50 percent of the front and rear panels of the cigarette package, Interfax reported citing an official representative of the Russian Ministry of Health Oleg Salagay.
According to Sagalay, the health warnings must be placed on tobacco products manufactured in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) member states.
He said the graphic (pictorial) warnings and the parameters of their placement were developed by Russian Ministry of Health in cooperation with the ministries of health of EEU member states.
He said health warnings on thin cigarette packs will be of smaller size and the free space will have the neutral Panton 448C color, with a text warning about the dangers of smoking.
"This color has been recognized as the most unpleasant for the smoker,' said Salagay. -0-
