First case of coronavirus Covid 19 confirmed in Artsakh

The first case of coronavirus Covid-19 was reported today by the health authorities of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).

YEREVAN, April 7. /ARKA/. The first case of coronavirus Covid-19 was reported today by the health authorities of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
The Artsakh Ministry of Health said in a statement that two samples of the infection had been sent to Armenia for examination and one of them appeared to be positive.
The ministry said on April 2 the infected person was taken by ambulance to the Kashatag medical unit and isolated. It was found out that he he had previously traveled to an Armenia’s town, which is considered to be the "center of infection." The second citizen is the latter’s neighbor. She was hospitalized on April 4 for the other reason in the same medical institution. According to the ministry, she was diagnosed to have bronchitis.
The ministry said considering that upon returning from Armenia the infected citizen was in the village of Mirik, in Kashatag district, all 17 persons who had contacted him in the previous days were self-isolated in advance for safety reasons and now do not have any symptoms.
Employees of the Artsakh Center for Epidemiology and Hygiene, after clarifying the possible scope of the people who had contacted the infected person, disinfected the homes of the self-isolated citizens.
The house of the infected person, which is located 39 kilometers from the district center and 89 kilometers from the capital Stepanakert, has been under supervision after the latter’s isolation.
As of today morning, 853 cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Armenia. Eighty-seven patients recovered and eight other with pre-existing health problems died. -0-
