YEREVAN, March 27. /ARKA/. Gazprom Armenia, Armenia's national Russian-owned natural gas network, said today it will not shut off gas supplies to Armenian households for their failure to pay the bills until the end of the state of emergency declared by the government to stop the spread of coronavirus. The 30-day day state of emergency was declared on March 16.

The company said in a press release that its decision is prompted by the state of emergency and the statement of the Public Services Regulatory Commission that described the situation with payments of utility bills as force majeure.

Gazprom Armenia said the debts of subscribers for gas supply in February amounted to 4.8 billion drams. Of this amount, only 315 million drams are owned by subscribers included in the list of vulnerable segment by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

“Some subscribers’ debts for gas supply in February is up to 900 thousand drams,” the company said.

The Russian natural gas is delivered to Armenia by Gazprom at a $165 per one thousand cubic meters, but Gazprom’s Armenian subsidiary – Gazprom Armenia – sells it to the bulk of Armenian households at almost $300. Gazprom Armenia also deals with the storage, distribution and sale of natural gas. ($1 - 497.24 drams). -0-
