International donors can help Armenia improve vocational education – expert
YEREVAN, April 3. /ARKA/. International donor organizations can support Armenia in improving the vocational education sector, head of vocational education at Armenia’s ministry of education Robert Abrahamyan said on Sputnik-Armenia radio channel, as cited by Novosti-Armenia.

Abrahamyan pointed to the lack of textbooks in the sector. The ministry is trying to pay for the textbooks from the budget, but the problem is not fully solved due to insufficient funds, he said.

Meanwhile, international financial institutions could help develop handbooks as part of their programs, according to Abrahamyan.

The head of the department said some 3-4 expert meetings are arranged every year to discuss strategic issues of the educational sector and to make proposals to the minister of education. The next stage after the meeting is to establish cooperation between companies and educational institutions.

Abrahamyan said interest is growing toward events like job fairs from one year to another. Most popular areas among youth are services sector, tourism, IT, followed by construction, agricultural and engineering specialties, he said.

The expert also said the government makes an attempt to attract more students through state-paid tuition fee scholarships. –0--
