YEREVAN, December 21. /ARKA/. The number of reported cases of influenza and acute respiratory diseases in Armenia give no reason for concern, the chief infectiologist, Ara Asoyan, said to reporters today.

He said three cases of swine flu were reported so far, despite the spread of the disease in neighboring Iran. He said the symptoms of swine and ordinary flues are almost identical.

"Severe cases of infectious diseases have not been recorded in Armenia so far. The situation is quite safe. At the same time we must remember that any type of flu is dangerous. As for antibiotics, they can be used to fight these diseases only after consulting doctors," said Asoyan.

In view of the upcoming New Year's holidays, Asoyan  called on his fellow citizens not to abuse alcohol, as well as not to overeat.-0-
