Pashinyan: we need to co-exist with coronavirus
YEREVAN, May 3. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told his country fellows today they have to learn to live with coronavirus cases in the country. He said  the government is shifting to decentralized phase  in the fight against coronavirus.

"Obviously, until March or April of next year, new cases of coronavirus will be recorded until a vaccine is found;  so everything needs to be done to ensure co-existing with  new rules. It is  impossible to live in a lockdown  for a whole year," said Pashinyan during a live broadcast together with deputy prime minister  Tigran Avinyan and the health minister Arsen Torosyan.

At the same time, Pashinyan noted that if today 'we knew with confidence that after another month of the most stringent restrictions it would be possible to fix the end of the pandemic, we could make such a decision, but we actually recorded that this is unrealistic and impossible, and statistics of the last two months shows it. "

Tigran Avinyan, who is head of a government task force set up to enforce the state of emergency,  said reports from  many countries shows that the virus continues to spread. He said  the next weeks will be a test for all, as much will depend on everyone's  personal responsibility.

According to health minister Arsen Torosyan, the number of patients in serious condition has increased to sixty-five and  35 are in critical condition, eight people are on ventilation. The health system can still handle  3-4 thousand cases, and the task is not to exceed the maximum, he said.

On May 4 the government of Armenia will lift a number of restrictions it had imposed to prevent the spread of coronavirus,  however, the ban on public transport will remain in force.  No restrictions will be applied to virtually all retail and wholesale trade.  Restrictions on all types of activities in the processing industry will be completely lifted, including  production of textiles, furniture, shoes, printing, etc.

Only restaurants, cafes and bars that will be able to organize their work in open areas will be allowed to reopen.  Will reopen also washing, cleaning and dry cleaning services, hairdressers and beauty salons.

A 30-day state of emergency to curb the spread of coronavirus was declared in Armenia on March 16. The government imposed also restrictions on free movement of citizens and banned certain types of economic activity. On April 13, the government extended the state of emergency for another month, but allowed some businesses to reopen.

In the last 24 hours Armenia's confirmed coronavirus cases have risen to 3,386 and the death cases have upped to 35. -0-
