School-age children in Armenia infected with coronavirus
YEREVAN, March 26. /ARKA/. Armenian minister of health Arsen Torosyan said today that some of the people infected with coronavirus are  school-age children.

“They feel good, they have practically no symptoms. We can say that they have the  mild stage of the infection and there is no threat to their life,” he said at a news conference.

According to him, it is reasonable to say that infected schoolchildren can become carriers of the infection, but the practice  all over the world shows that coronavirus has no serious effect on the general health of a person at this age.

"Speaking of age risk groups, they mean the general condition of all healthy people of a given age, which does not exclude complications in people with chronic diseases and weak immunity. If a child has immunodeficiency or is undergoing an intensive course of treatment for other diseases, he is at risk for infectious diseases, in this case, for coronavirus.  We must make additional efforts to protect children undergoing chemotherapy or other types of treatment, "the minister said.

Torosyan noted the importance of measures to identify the entire chain of infection with coronaviruses and possible contacts so that people of different age groups do not become carriers of the infection and do not transmit it to people with poor health.

“Accordingly, regardless of age or good health, everyone must adhere to safety rules so as not to cause a disease to those close to them. And this behavior should become dominant for the nearest period of time until a remedy is found that completely cures this infection, "he said.

Some 290 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Armenia so far with  36 of them diagnosed with pneumonia, two patients were in an extremely serious condition. 18 people recovered and no deaths were recorded. --0--
