SCR calls on citizens to follow safety rules at railroad

South Caucasus Railway disseminated Tuesday the warning over the incident on 165 km of Vardenis-Shorzha rail track on October 22, 2012, when freight cars collided with cattle. As a result four cars of the freight train derailed.
YEREVAN, October 23. /ARKA/. South Caucasus Railway disseminated Tuesday the warning over the incident on 165 km of Vardenis-Shorzha rail track on October 22, 2012, when freight cars collided with cattle. As a result four cars of the freight train derailed.

“In connection with the recent incident on the track Vardenis-Shorzha, CJSC "South Caucasus Railway" once again reminds citizens to follow safety standards and do not use the way for grazing and transhumance. SCR encourages citizens to be more attentive at the railway stations, and crossing the railway segments. 

The company requires to strictly follow safety standards and calls on citizens not to cross the railroad tracks in inappropriate places,” the message states.
For its part, the company takes all necessary measure to ensure traffic safety: to hold a program of railway crossings repair, to identify flaws, to organize technical trainings for workers on duty and spread fliers among drivers about road safety.

“Rail transport like automobile cannot stop at once: in an emergency stopping passenger trains pass a distance of at least 800 meters. Be careful and remember that by your wrong actions you endanger not only yourselves, but also the lives and health of passengers!”

South Caucasus Railways, a 100-percent subsidiary of Russian Railways, runs Armenian Railway. 

Armenian Railways was handed over to the South Caucasus Railways on February 13, 2008 for 30-year concession management with a right to prolong the management term for other 10 years.-0-
