On February 26 to 29, 1988, mass pogroms of Armenians were committed in Azerbaijan’s city of Sumgait.

Some 14,000 Sumgait residents of Armenian descent left the city within s few days.

There were pogroms also in other cities of Azerbaijan, particularly in Baku in 1990.
