YEREVAN, June 25. /ARKA/. A record daily number of new cases of coronavirus infection was recorded in Armenia today - 771, Health Minister Arsen Torosyan said Thursday at a government meeting.
Thus, the total number of cases infected with COVID-19 reached 22,488.
According to Torosyan, a total of 2,336 tests were conducted, of which the number of positive results, as before, fluctuates around 30%.
"In this sense, the situation does not change, but given the fact that the absolute number (of infections) in itself is very important from the point of view of ensuring access to medical care, the situation remains stable, but tense," the minister said.
Torosyan also noted that according to the data at 9:00 on June 25, 51 patients with coronavirus need hospitalization in specialized hospitals, of which 49 people are in other medical institutions and two at home. He said that in all intensive care units there are now several free beds, however, the process of their release and replacement takes place very quickly.
The number of patients in critical and extremely critical condition, he said, remains stable and fluctuates around 600 people. "More specifically, at the moment there are 502 patients in serious condition and 113 in extremely serious condition, 40 people are connected to the ventilators," Torosyan said.
A state of emergency was declared in Armenia on March 16, 2020 to curb the spread of the coronavirus, and then extended three times. The latest decision, dated from June 12, extends the state of emergency until 17:00 July 13. -0---
