YEREVAN, October 11. /ARKA/. UNICEF is appealing for US $ 12.6 million to provide critical services to more than 30,000 children in Armenia who fled their homes in Nagorno-Karabakh since the escalation of hostilities in their communities two weeks ago.

The funds will be used to provide education, health, child protection, nutrition and water, sanitation and hygiene in the first six months.

According to UNICEF, the refugee children are showing signs of severe psychological distress. UNICEF warns that all are at risk of deteriorating mental health without immediate support.

Together with the Ministry of Health, UNICEF has formed mobile pediatric teams to enable wider outreach across the country to ensure screenings to identify and respond to mental health needs. -0-
