YEREVAN, June 28. /ARKA/. Upper Lars checkpoint that connects Armenia with Russia through Georgia’s territory may remain closed for another month and a half, Haykakan Zhamanak reported on Monday.

According to the newspaper, Stepantsminda-Lars road has been closed four days ago because of landslide threat.

The situation may strike hard at Armenian exporters of apricots and other fruits this season.
Experts say that the road repair is estimated to take two weeks to 1.5 month.

As many as 72 trucks trapped at the Upper Lars are being transported by ferries from Batumi. Private companies are also transporting some 100 cars by ferries.

According to a witness, some 140 cars from Armenia are now trapped in Georgia. ---0---
