YEREVAN, September 24. /ARKA/. None of those who have received at least one doze of Covid-19 vaccine in Armenia has had serious side effects or other health problems, Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan said at a government meeting on Friday.

She said over the past 2 days an increase in daily vaccinations has been observed - 9,924 doses of vaccines were administered on September 22 and another 8,440 on September 23.

“This suggests that our citizens have changed their attitude towards vaccination and the confidence that it protects from infection has grown. This is natural, since all 385,503 people who have been vaccinated have had no health problems. Vaccines are effective, safe and protect against infection," she said.

The minister stressed that out of 11,470 currently active cases, only 286 citizens have been vaccinated. According to her, this is natural, since vaccination does not eliminate the risk of infection, but reduces it.

"Of 2,006 infected citizens who are in hospitals today, only 38 people are vaccinated. Most of them are hospitalized because of having many other chronic diseases. Therefore, for reasons of caution, they are under supervision in hospitals," she said.

Avanesyan drew attention to the fact that in Armenia, as in other countries, as a result of vaccination, the number of hospitalizations and severe and extremely severe cases is decreasing.

"We also have an increase in the incidence of other ‘autumn’ diseases , which is natural. The overall tension in the healthcare system is quite heavy. Our call to prevent the spread of coronavirus and reduce the number of hospitalizations is aimed at ensuring that citizens with other diseases also have the opportunity to receive medical services," she said. -0-
