YEREVAN, March 6. /ARKA/. The Armenian National Assembly passed Friday at the first reading a package of amendments to the law on customs regulations, which will allow Armenians returning to their homeland to bring their property in the country without paying property duty.
Sisak Gabrielyan, and MP from My Step faction who is the author of the bill, said that under the present law, to enjoy this preference the returning people had to be out of the country for at lest 180 days every year within the last five years, while the amended law will require 915 days without dividing this into years.
Besides, the preference now applies only to those people who are not Armenian citizens and doesn't apply to Armenian citizens, regardless of the period of time they have spent abroad.
As for property volumes, it was said that only three pieces of each kind can be brought for nothing, but each person is allowed to bring only one car with no less than six months of ownership.
After providing an appropriate status to the returning people, 18 months are given to them for bringing their property to Armenia. -0---
