Will there be mass emigration from Armenia after visa liberalization with EU?
YEREVAN, September 18 /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan answered the question of how likely mass emigration from Armenia is after the liberalization of visas with the European Union (EU).
"Negotiations on visa liberalization with the EU have officially started, and this is a very important political agenda. Before the start of the negotiations, we had conducted research on how much the wave of emigration has risen in other countries after the liberalization of the visa regime. For example, in Georgia, which is close to us, there was no large emigration," Pashinyan said, answering questions from participants of the Second World Armenian Summit.
According to him, the more opportunities and freedom of movement, the less desire citizens have to go somewhere and stay there.
“Today thousands of people from Armenia do not return home from Europe and the USA because they had a hard time getting there and if they return, they will not be able to go there again,” said he.
At the same time, Pashinyan stated that since the 1990s, the main reason for emigration has been the uncertainty of the future. -0-
