Yerevan Council of Elders approves 2021 budget

YEREVAN, December 23. /ARKA/. The Council of Elders, the legislative body of the Armenian capital Yerevan, has approved today the city's budget for 2021.
The budget, approved unanimously, calls for 92.4 billion drams in revenue and 100.7 billion drams in spending. The projected deficit is 8.3 billion drams.
Some 5.9 billion drams are earmarked from the reserve fund for the management and coordination of the second investment program for sustainable development of the city and urban infrastructures, carried out with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank.
Some 300 million are earmarked for resolving social problems, including those who received disabilities during the hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh war and those who suffered from the coronavirus.
“For about 6 months, the Yerevan Municipality has not given bonuses to its employees. The decision was supported by all the staff of the municipality who realize that in these difficult days we should not remain indifferent,” said mayor Hayk Marutyan.
He noted that the funds earmarked as bonuses will be spent on the installation of new elevators in high-rise residential buildings and creation of other conditions necessary for the normal life of people who were disabled during the war. -0-
