Yerevan municipality will build 400 ramps for people with disabilities

In 2017 the Yerevan Municipality will build about 420 ramps in the capital's streets for people with disabilities and people, moving in wheelchairs, deputy mayor Kamo Areyan told a news conference today.

YEREVAN, January 18. /ARKA/. In 2017 the Yerevan Municipality will build about 420 ramps in the capital's streets for people with disabilities and people, moving in wheelchairs, deputy mayor Kamo Areyan told a news conference today.
He said since 2013 when a special program was adopted to build ramps for people with disabilities the municipality has built 2005 ramps, of which 275 in 2016 alone.
Also, last year special dalles for visually impaired citizens were laid on 73 street sections. The municipality also obtained 5 new buses, adapted for people with disabilities, increasing the number of such buses to 25.
Areyan said 340 areas in front of residential buildings were improved and 17.3 km of roads repaired. It also built 9 mini football fields, bringing their number to 126. In 2017 the municipality will build five new football fields.
Areyan said the municipality will also renovate and build 28 kindergartens and install modern lighting system with energy-saving LED lamps on 28 streets of the capital. -0-
