Armenia is up three notches in Henley Passport Index
YEREVAN, October 1. /ARKA/. Armenia has improved its position in the Henley Passport Index,  moving up three notches to the 81st place.

The Henley Passport Index is compiled by residence and citizenship planning company Henley & Partners. It ranks all the world’s passports based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the firm’s research department. The quarterly index primarily rates travel documents based on how many countries they allow access too, either visa-free or by only needing to get a visa on arrival (rather than in advance).

According to the updated index, over the last three months the number of visa-free countries for Armenian citizens has remained the same - 60. The improvement is therefore due to the movement of other countries in the ranking.

Ukraine and Moldova have both climbed 19 places, while Georgia, Armenia's northern neighbor,  has jumped 16. Georgian citizens  can travel without visas to 114 countries, and citizens of Azerbaijan to 66 countries. Russian citizens received visa-free access to Sierra Leone, and now can visit 117 countries visa-free.

The ranking of the strongest passports is topped by Singapore and Japan. Their citizens have access to 190 destinations without needing a visa in advance. With a score of 188, Finland, Germany, and South Korea remain in second place; while Denmark, Italy, and Luxembourg are in third place, with citizens now able to access 187 destinations worldwide without requiring a visa in advance.

Afghanistan remains at the bottom of the ranking, in 107th place, with a visa-free/visa-on-arrival score of just 25, followed by Iraq (27) and Syria (29). -0-
