Armenian lake Sevan among 5 most popular water resorts in CIS

Armenia’s largest Lake Sevan is among the top five most popular water resorts across several former Soviet republics which make the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), according to the findings of a study, made by Russian Travel.ru tourism service.
YEREVAN, April 19. /ARKA/. Armenia’s largest Lake Sevan is among the top five most popular water resorts across several former Soviet republics which make the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), according to the findings of a study, made by Russian Travel.ru tourism service.
The largest lake in the South Caucasus, Sevan surrounded by mountain ranges, is situated at an altitude of 1900 meters above sea level, one hour away from Yerevan, the Armenian capital. Tourists enjoy boat sailing, the mountain scenery and local kebab made of crayfish. The most famous historical monument there is the monastery of Sevan, located on a peninsula near the city of Sevan.
According to Travel.ru, other most popular lakes in the CIS are Lake Issyk-Kul (Kyrgyzstan), the resort Borovoe (Kazakhstan), Lake Naroch (Belarus) and the Caspian Sea (Baku, Azerbaijan).
The rating of resorts was made based on hotel and apartment bookings for the 2016 summer. According to Travel.ru, a three-member family spends on average 3,500 Russian rubles in a CIS country resort a day, which is comparable to the cost of summer holidays in Russian resorts.-0--
