Festivals are an effective way to demonstrate one’s potential, both at home and beyond it, Mekhak Apresyan, the deputy chairman of the State Committee for Tourism, said on Wednesday.
YEREVAN, August 9. / ARKA /. Festivals are an effective way to demonstrate one’s potential, both at home and beyond it, Mekhak Apresyan, the deputy chairman of the State Committee for Tourism, said on Wednesday.
"The festivals display Armenia’s entertainment, cultural, socio-economic and other opportunities. This way we get a powerful tool to attract tourists, and this tool should be used as efficiently as possible," he said at a press conference.
“Unfortunately, we do not have statistics on the number of tourists who visit Armenia for festivals, but some facts show that their number is constantly growing, and this gives cause for optimism. For example, the festival of shish kebab attracts a significant number of tourists from the neighboring Georgia,’ he said.
In his words, the most popular festivals are those which have been running for 8-9 years already- they are the festivals of wine, tolma and shish kebab. The festival of honey and berries is becoming quite popular, he added.
On August 12-13, the Soran National Park in Tavush region will host the sixth Shamshadin festival of honey and berries. -0-
