YEREVAN, March 1. /ARKA/. Citizens of Armenia, as well as Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine can enter Georgia by air starting from March 1 if they have a certificate confirming they tested negative for coronavirus. The decision was made by an interagency coordinating council set up by Georgian prime minister to fight against the spread of coronavirus, TASS reported.

Earlier, Georgia allowed the entry of vaccinated citizens of some countries. At the same time, Georgian authorities allowed the entry of citizens from Bahrain, Israel, UAE, Saudi Arabia, USA, Turkey, Switzerland and EU countries, provided they had certificates confirming they had tested negative for the virus.

Later, as the number of cases began to drop, the list of countries whose citizens can enter Georgia without being vaccinated was supplemented by Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.

The entry of foreigners into Georgia is allowed only by air. Land border crossings with neighboring countries remain closed to international travelers. Due to the lack of regular flights between Georgia and Russia, which were suspended in July 2019 due to anti-Russian rallies in Tbilisi, Russians will be able to get to Georgia by transit flights through third countries.

The interagency council has also lifted some Covid-19 forced restrictions allowing restaurants in the Adjaria Autonomous Region to serve visitors indoors.

The first case of coronavirus infection in Georgia was recorded on February 26, 2020. Since then 270,758 cases of infection were confirmed in the country; some 265,114 people have recovered and 3,510 patients died. - 0--
