YEREVAN, July 6. /ARKA/. A Swiss Armenian businessman Vartan Sermakesh and a local investor Have Harutyunyan will jointly develop a 20,000 square meters land plot in downtown Yerevan as part of a major program called ‘Old Yerevan.’

The land plot, located on Pavstos Buzand Street, is divided between the two investors. The larger one- 16,500 square meters will be developed by Mr. Sermakesh and the smaller one by Mr. Vahe Harutyunyan.

Architect Levon Vardanyan, the author of the project, announced today the launch of earthwork on the site, saying the construction will begin once the project is approved by the Yerevan municipality.

Vardanyan said the Old Yerevan area will not have dwelling buildings and will serve as a public and cultural center with museums, galleries and fairs of Armenian carpets.

The Old Yerevan project is to recreate Yerevan’s architectural look of the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. According to earlier reports, the cost of the project is $150 million.–0--
