Pashinyan: 14.4% year-on-year growth in foreigners’ visits to Armenia in 1st H 2019
YEREVAN, July 17. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wrote on his Facebook page yesterday that the number of tourists who have visited Armenia in Jan-June 2019 is 14.4% greater than that of the same period a year earlier.
“Tourist season, by the way, is just beginning, and I hope that our economic entities, from taxi drivers to owners of booths, will ensure a good reception to tourists,” he wrote.
The premier also added that every tourist who returns from Armenia with a good impression drives the country’s reputation up and enhances its attractiveness.
The National Statistical Committee of Armenia says 1,651,782 people have visited the country in 2018, and this is 10.5% more than in 2017.
According to the latest statistical report, 7.2% of all the 1,275,209 visitors in Jan-Sept 2018 were tourists from Iran.
The Armenian economy ministry says Armenia hosted 719,531visitors in Jan-March 2019 accounting for a 5.2% year-on-year growth.
Some 364,489 of these travelers were tourists – 502% more than in the same period a year before. -0---
