Armenia bans exports of rawhide

YEREVAN, June 3. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has approved today a temporary six-month ban on the export of a number of goods.
The list includes rawhide (cattle, horse, sheep or lamb), as well as other types of rawhide (with or without wool, tanned or not tanned).
According to the government, the ban will allow to apply restrictions in line with the EEU legislation on the export of those goods, the on-site processing of which is expected to contribute to increasing the country's defense and security.
Deputy Minister of Economy Avag Avanesyan said the ban will support a set of measures of the government designed to enable local industrial enterprises to develop their own production. According to Avanesyan, as a result 300-350 new jobs are expected to be created.
"Now, local companies engaged in rawhide processing have a demand for raw materials and the possibilities of the raw material base are not yet used at full capacity," he said. --0--
