South Caucasus Railways and Belarusian Railways sign cooperation agreement

South Caucasus Railways (SCR), a Russian-run company operating Armenia's railroads and the Belarusian Railways have signed a cooperation agreement during the 62nd session of the Railway Transport Council of CIS and the Baltic's held in Minsk on May 20-21.

YEREVAN, May 21. / ARKA /. South Caucasus Railways (SCR), a Russian-run company operating Armenia's railroads and the Belarusian Railways have signed a cooperation agreement during the 62nd session of the Railway Transport Council of CIS and the Baltic's held in Minsk on May 20-21.
Head of SCR Viktor Rebets was in Minsk to participate in the gathering.
Under the agreement the two companies will cooperate in exchange of experience in the organization of rail freight and passenger traffic, interaction with shippers and consignees, development of new technologies for loading and unloading operations, traffic management and maintenance of rail infrastructure, the SCR said in a press release.
The CIS and Baltic's' Railway Transport Council was established in 1992 to coordinate the work of railway transport at international level.
Its members are Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine. Bulgaria, Georgia, Latvia and Finland are associated members. The International Confederation of Trade Unions of Railwaymen and Transport Builders and The Railways of the Islamic Republic of Iran have observer status in the Council.-
The South Caucasus Railways is run by Russian Railways. The concessional agreement was concluded in 2008 for 30 years, with a right of extension for another 20 years after the first 20 years of operation. -0-
