About AMD 214 million from the government budget are earmarked for celebration of the 20th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, Vigen Sargsyan, deputy head of the Armenian president’s administration, said on Thursday.
YEREVAN, August 25. /ARKA/. About AMD 214 million from the government budget are earmarked for celebration of the 20th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, Vigen Sargsyan, deputy head of the Armenian president’s administration, said on Thursday.

“I want to say that we have many individual partners who cooperate with us and provide financial support to us in organization of festive events,” he said.

Sargsyan expressed special gratitude to Ararat Yerevan Brandy Factory, GeoProMining company and Neva-Rus, which are main sponsors of these festivities.

“Important is that we see the private sector’s participation,” he said. “This allows us not to lay too heavy burden on the government budget.”

Armenia celebrates its Independence Day on September 21.

On September 21, 1991, Armenia held an independence referendum, in which 94% of the republic’s population eligible to vote cast votes for declaration of independence.

Two days later, the republic’s supreme council declared Armenia an independent state. -0-
