9.9% economic growth recorded in Armenia in January 2008

A 9.9% economic growth was recorded in Armenia in January 2008 against 2006. The volume of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was 101,203.9mln Drams (in current prices) in the period under review, Armenia’s National Statistical Service reported.
YEREVAN, March 3. /ARKA/. A 9.9% economic growth was recorded in Armenia in January 2008 against 2006. The volume of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was 101,203.9mln Drams (in current prices) in the period under review, Armenia’s National Statistical Service reported. GDP produced was 23.6% higher than the level in the previous month.
GDP deflator index was 106.5% by the end of January 2008.
According to the statistical data, 6.2% growth of gross added value provided a 4.7 pct increase in the actual volume of GDP (6.3pct in January 2007). 22.2% growth of taxes, the subsidies exclusive, provided 5.2pct of the actual growth of GDP (6.8pct in January 2007).
In the period, 75.9% construction growth increased the GDP by 2.6pct (against 0.3pct in January 2007). Industry (including energy sector) provided 0.03pct of economic growth (0.1% recession in the field).
Unchanged production output in agriculture, forestry, hunting and fishing had no impact on the economic growth.
5.9% increase recorded in the services field provided 2.3pct increase in the GDP (4pct in January 2007). The sphere of trade and public catering, transport and communication contributed 1.2cpt to the GDP growth – a 4.8% increase in January 2008.
The share of added value was 74.3% in the GDP structure against 76.7% in January 2007.
The share of industrial production was 22.6% against 24.7% in January 2007. The share of agriculture reduced by 1.9pct down to 9.8% and the share of construction increased 1.8pct up to 5.2%. Trade, public catering, transport and communication provided 23%, the services sector - 38%.
Taxes, the subsidies exclusive, constituted 25.7% of the GDP.
GDP per capita was 31,333Drams or $102 (69EUR) by the end of January 2008.
