"A busy year awaits us": Martin Galstyan on the impact of China's economy and trade wars on Armenia

YEREVAN, March 18. /ARKA/. The head of the Armenian Central Bank Martin Galstyan responded to a question whether the Stimulus Package, adopted by China and, in particular, the rise in copper prices, will affect Armenia's economy.

"In China, we are seeing a trend towards slowing growth. The Chinese government will try to stimulate economic growth. Let's see how successful it is. If it succeeds, and the demand matches the projected demand in those sectors where metals exported by Armenia are in demand, in particular copper, then metal prices will at least not fall," Galstyan said. At the same time, he urged to pay attention not only to China.

"We need to understand what will happen as a result of the "trade skirmish" (between the US and Europe), how tariffs will change. In light of all this, we have a rather busy year ahead, full of events," Galstyan said. He expressed hope that logic would prevail over the unexpected. -0-
