Armenia to Allocate 3.1 Billion AMD in Compensation for Agricultural Exporters
YEREVAN, July 9. /ARKA/. The Armenian government will allocate 3.1 billion drams in compensation for agricultural exporters. The corresponding decision was made at a government meeting on Thursday.

Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan recalled that in June, the government adopted a program to support exporters with the goal of market diversification.

"We provide financial support for the export of greenhouse products, as well as certain types of fresh fruits and vegetables, food products, and beverages," Papoyan said.

According to him, the current decision is aimed at fulfilling the obligations to exporters that arose in June as part of the program.

"They exported their products, and we must provide them with financial support. Compensation in the amount of 3.1 billion drams will be provided for the implementation of the current program and the fulfillment of these obligations," the minister noted.

Papoyan reported that 784 tons of peppers, 200 tons of tomatoes, 109 tons of strawberries, about 3,000 tons of apricots, 1,400 tons of cherries, 1.5 million liters of bottled mineral water, and 230,000 liters of bottled grape wine were exported in June.

"While about 3,000 tons of apricots were exported in June, as of July 7, exports had already reached 5,405 tons, including the June figure. Yesterday, 139,000 flowers were also exported. Appropriate mechanisms have been put in place to resolve this issue. In June and July, fruit was exported to 15 countries, flowers to 25 countries, and vegetables to five countries," Papoyan said.

Restrictions on Products from Armenia to Russia

Effective June 12, 2026, Russia has restricted the import of all quarantine products originating in and shipped from Armenia, as well as their transit through Russia to EAEU member states. Specifically, the restrictions apply to Jermuk mineral water, alcoholic beverages, vegetables, fruits, herbs, fish, and fish products.

The Russian agency cited the "systematic detection of quarantine organisms" in plant products and flowers from Armenia as the reason. The restrictions will remain in effect until an algorithm for ensuring the safety and traceability of shipped goods is developed.

Support for Exporters in Armenia

Against the backdrop of Russian trade restrictions, Armenia has expanded support measures for exporters, particularly for shipments to EU countries. The government is reimbursing transportation costs and customs duties on shipments of fruits, vegetables, and flowers to the EU, the UK, and Canada, and is also providing subsidies for a number of export goods.

Under the state support program for the export of certain types of products, compensation will be provided to exporters of fresh fruits, certain food products, and beverages exported from Armenia in July 2026. The list of subsidized products includes dried fruits and vegetables, as well as fish (trout and sturgeon). ($1 = 367.2 drams).
