Armenia is set to develop a new standard for the auditing and certification of food safety systems.
YEREVAN, September 24. /ARKA/. Armenia is set to develop a new standard for the auditing and certification of food safety systems. To this end, the government approved a draft decision during its Thursday session regarding the 2026 state standardization program and the associated list of standardization activities.
Gevorg Papoyan, the Minister of Economy of Armenia, stated that the program entails modernizing existing standards, as well as internationalizing and harmonizing them with regional standards.
According to the minister, efforts undertaken as part of state support for standardization ensure the existence of standards that meet international requirements. "Goods, services, or specific processes that comply with these requirements do not encounter issues during the subsequent development of policies or implementation of activities, as they are already harmonized with the best global practices," Papoyan explained.
He noted that, within the framework of the program—specifically in the realm of management systems—a standard for the auditing and certification of food safety management systems will be developed.
