YEREVAN, August 31. /ARKA/. A delegation from the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia (PSRC) paid a working visit to the Hrazdan-5 power plant, operated by Gazprom Armenia CJSC.

According to the PSRC press service, Gazprom Armenia General Director Ashot Hakobyan and Hrazdan-5 Power Plant Director Ruben Vardanyan briefed the commission representatives on the operation of the combined cycle power plant, its technical capabilities, and the modernization efforts carried out in recent years.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the efficient and reliable operation of Hrazdan-5, as well as ensuring the stability of the energy system.

PSRC Chairman Mesrop Mesropyan emphasized the importance of regular working meetings with industry companies and joint efforts on energy sector issues.

About the plant

The Hrazdan-5 power unit is located in the city of Hrazdan in the Kotayk region and is operated by Gazprom Armenia CJSC (part of the Gazprom Group) under a thermal power generation license.

The company acquired the assets of the unfinished unit in 2006 and subsequently completed its construction and modernization. The facility is distinguished by its combination of gas turbine and steam turbine technologies, i.e., operation using a combined cycle. The unit was connected to the Armenian power grid in January 2012. Its installed capacity is 467 MW. According to Gazprom Armenia, the facility has generated approximately 9.7 billion kWh of electricity since its launch.
