Speaker of the RA Parliament Tigran Torosyan is sure of successful execution of Resolution No. 1620 adopted by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
YEREVAN, July 21. /ARKA/. Speaker of the RA Parliament Tigran Torosyan is sure of successful execution of Resolution No. 1620 adopted by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
“I am sure that necessary work will be carried out and no sanctions will be applied against Armenia, as it will affect not only the country’s relations with the organization, but also other opportunities. I do not want us to be found on this way,” he told a press conference.
Since the Resolution was adopted less than a month ago, it is yet early to sum up the results of the work, Torosyan said.
He pointed out that necessary work is being carried out.
Torosyan expressed the confidence that the ad hoc commission set up at the RA Parliament to investigate the March 1-2 events in Yerevan will be a success. The commission was set up under PACE’s previous Resolution No. 1609.
PACE adopted Resolution No. 1620 while considering Resolution No. 1609, which provided for the deprivation of Armenia of its voting right if the country failed to strengthen its democratic institutes, conduct an impartial investigation into the March events in Yerevan and grant more rights to the political opposition. Armenia is to execute Resolution No. 1620 before PACE’s session this winter.–0--
