Armenian President To Visit India In 2011

Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan will pay an official visit to India in 2011, Armenian foreign affairs ministry said in a statement today. It said the agreement to that end was reached by Armenian foreign minister Edward Nalbandian.
YEREVAN, November 12, /ARKA/. Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan will pay an official visit to India in 2011, Armenian foreign affairs ministry said in a statement today. It said the agreement to that end was reached by Armenian foreign minister Edward Nalbandian, currently on a visit to India, and his Indian opposite number Somanahalli Mallaiah Krishna.

According to the statement, the goal of the visit will be to give a new impulse to developing friendly Armenian-Indian relations.

Indian foreign minister was quoted as saying that his country wishes to take effective steps to further its relationships with Armenia. Edward Nalbandian for his part said Armenia underscores its relations with India.
 
“Our countries have no problems. Quite the contrary, there is a great deal of factors uniting them,’ he was quoted as saying.

According to Somanahalli Mallaiah Krishna, effective bilateral cooperation in political, economic and cultural areas has deepened over the last years thanks to mutual trust and political will to take active steps to further these relations.

Both men were said to have discussed also a set of issues pertaining to the work of bilateral intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, stepping up consultations on the level of foreign ministries and strengthening cooperation within international organizations.- -0-
