New president of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic will bring about radical changes in the negotiation process on peaceful settlement of the Karabakh problem and make the NKR a negotiating side, said Leader of Armenia’s Democratic Party Aram Sargsyan.
YEREVAN, July 3. /ARKA/. New president of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic will bring about radical changes in the negotiation process on peaceful settlement of the Karabakh problem and make the NKR a negotiating side, said Leader of Armenia’s Democratic Party Aram Sargsyan during the round-table on “Presidential elections in Karabakh: view from Yerevan.”
He said that the next president should present to the international community his country’s positions and ways of conflict settlement acceptable for the NKR.
“So far it has not been done, and the NKR new president will face a lot of unsolved issues,” he said. Sargsyan believes that Armenia should support the NKR in the issue of presenting Karabakh to the international community and its recognition, as All-Armenian issues should be solved by joint efforts.
The election campaign of presidential candidates in the NKR is held on June 20 and July 17, 2007.
The presidential elections of the NKR will be held on July 19. At present the CEC of the NKR recorded five presidential candidates – Bako Sahakyan (Head of the NKR National Security Service), Masis Mailyan (NKR Deputy Foreign Minister), Armen Abgaryan (NKR National Assembly MP), Vanya Avanesyan (Lecturer in Artsakh State University) and Hrant Melkumyan (candidate of the NKR Communist Party).
