YEREVAN, October 10. /ARKA/. Armenia’s former premier, Chairman of the National Democratic Union (NDU) Vazgen Manukyan attaches importance to the unification of opposition forces on the threshold of the presidential election.
According to him, new forms of political activities are necessary for such underdeveloped democracies as Armenia.
“Mechanically combining votes and resources of political forces will not produce any results. A united opposition forced is needed,” Manukyan said.
According to him, such a force will create a situation for people to see an opportunity for changes in the country and not resort to falsifications, fearing responsibility.
“A situation, when voters are sure that nothing will change and taker bribes, and the elections are easily rigged, is senseless. If a united opposition forced is formed, the election results will correspond to the facts,” -Manukyan said.
He stressed that it is yet early to speak of the formation of any political force.
“The process of unification of political forces will be simplified after the principal presidential candi8dates have been nominated,” Manuklan said.
According to him, if any of the presidential candidates leaves the others behind, they must either join him or leave him alone, without impeding his progress.
Manukyan also pointed out that the motto “let the incumbent go away and anybody come to power”, as well as a myth about an all-mighty candidate, is inadmissible. P.T. –0—
