The issue of international recognition of the Armenian genocide is sensitive and important for every Armenian, Armenia’s Prime-Minister Serge Sargsian said.
YEREVAN, October 24. /ARKA/. The issue of international recognition of the Armenian genocide is sensitive and important for every Armenian, Armenia’s Prime-Minister Serge Sargsian said in his interview to Reuters agency.
The Prime-Minister expressed his gratitude to everybody who supported the adoption of the resolution #106 in the U.S. House Committee for Foreign Affairs.
Sargsian expressed his gratitude to both the congressmen who voted for the resolution and the congressmen who voted against the resolution at the moment but acknowledge the fact of the genocide.
On October 10, with 27 votes “for” and 21 “against” the U.S. House Committee for Foreign Affairs adopted the resolution #106 urging to reflect in the U.S. foreign policy the fact of the genocide against Armenians in Ottoman Empire.
The Armenian genocide was the first genocide of XX century. Turkey keeps denying the accusations of mass massacres of about one and a half million Armenians during World War I.
23 countries have already acknowledged the fact of the Armenian genocide in Ottoman Empire in 1915-1923. N.V. –0—
