Armenia’s representatives to PACE call on to avoid double standards in Karabakh conflict settlement
YEREVAN, January 23. /ARKA/. Armenia’s representatives to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) have called on the world community to avoid double standards while treating the Karabakh issue, the RA Parliament’s Press Service reports.
The Armenian delegation made this statement during the discussion of Lord Russell-Johnston’s report on Kosovo’s status.
Leader of the Heritage (Zharangutyun) Party Raffi Hovannisian did not share the reporter’s viewpoint that Kosovo can become a precedent for the settlement of other conflicts. He believes the selective approach and geopolitical situation cannot prevail over the international law, self-determination and self-government.
The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic has all the necessary legal and constitutional bases for existence, according to Hovannisian.
He called on to say “no” to double standards and say “yes” to the key points of the report.
Chairman of Armenia’s Parliamentary Standing Commission on European Integration Avet Adonts believes political changes determined the collapse of Yugolsavia and the Soviet Union. According to him, conflicts should never be settled by means of double standards. Z. Sh. –0--
