YEREVAN, April 9. /ARKA/. Inauguration ceremony of Serge Sargssyan, newly elected Armenian President, was held in Armenia April 9. A car took the three main symbols of Armenian statehood – the state flag, the original Constitution and ancient Armenian manuscript of the Gospel – to the State Opera and Ballet Theatre hosting the inauguration ceremony.

Prime Minister and Leader of the Republican Party of Armenia Serge Sargssyan won the presidential elections February 19 with 52.82% votes. European and CIS observers said the elections passed in accordance with the international standards.

The ceremony was attended by official delegations of 58 countries and representatives of 12 international organizations.

The Russian delegation is headed by State Duma Speaker Boris Grizlov, and the US delegation is headed by US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairman Matthew Bryza. Speaker of the Czech Republic Senate, Parliament Speaker of Turkmenistan, Prime Minister of Georgia and Iranian Energy Minister are among the guests.

The ceremony will also be attended by EU Special Envoy to the South Caucasus Peter Semneby, Special Envoy of the OSCE chairman-in-office Heikki Talvitie, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Nikolay Bordyuzha, NATO Deputy Secretary General Jean Francois Bureau and the Deputy Secretary of the Arab League. –0—
