YEREVAN, June 20. /ARKA/. Armenia is the first country that is not a member of the European Union to join the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) Head of the European Commission Delegation to Armenia Raul de Luzenberger stated at a presentation in Yerevan.

The ENN operation in Armenia is part of the European Neighborhood Policy, which is supposed to create conditions for contacts between the peoples and business communities of Armenia and European countries, Luzenberger said.

He pointed out that the ENN is supposed to unite Armenia’s small and medium-sized enterprises with all companies throughout the European Union, which will allow them to receive information on legislation, possibilities of finding partners in Europe and development of innovation projects.

The EU promised to open its market for partner-countries and expand contacts between enterprises and citizens, and the ENN is the mechanism to enable Armenia to establish contacts with Europe, Luzenberger said.

RA Minister of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan pointed out that this initiative open up serious prospects for small and medium-sized businesses, allowing them to establish contacts with European companies, investors and consultants. The ENN is intended for businessmen both from Yerevan and from Armenia’s regions to enable them to study the opportunities for establishing international contacts, Yeritsyan said.

The program is supposed to reveal the potential of Armenia’s market and the competitive potential of the European market as well as facilitate European integration, Yeritsyan said.

The ENN offers a wide range of services to businessmen to enable them to develop their activities and establish international contacts.

Last year, under the European Commission’s competitiveness and innovations program, a contest was announced for partner organizations involved in a new European network of information centers for business promotion. The Armenian National Center for Small and Medium-Sized Business won the contest.
