Armenia Set to Receive €200 Million from European Union for Phase 2 of the Resilience and Growth Program
YEREVAN, September 19. /ARКА/. EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos announced today in Yerevan the launch of funding for Phase 2 of the Armenia Resilience and Growth Program during a press conference.
"We are talking about an amount exceeding €200 million, which will be allocated for investments in connectivity, resilience, business development, transport, and digitalization. This reflects Armenia's dedication to a clear reform agenda and its strong commitment to implementing reforms in critical areas," she stated.
She remarked that the region is currently undergoing a historic phase—an opportunity for establishing peace in the South Caucasus has arisen for the first time. "We advocate for a peaceful partnership with Armenia and are prepared to continue this collaboration. Europe is built on peace, Europe is a partner in peace, and both the South Caucasus and Armenia play a significant role in the transformations that will alter the circumstances in both Europe and the South Caucasus," Kos highlighted.
About the Program
The announcement of the €270 million "Resilience and Growth Armenia 2024-2027" program, which aims to enhance the new Armenia-EU partnership agenda, was made following a meeting on April 5, 2024, in Brussels involving Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Commission Vice-President and High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and USAID Administrator Samantha Power.
The program is designed to bolster Armenia's socioeconomic resilience while facilitating trade diversification. It will also address the long-term needs of displaced individuals.
This initiative will enhance sectoral cooperation with Armenia while increasing support for regulatory harmonization aimed at unlocking the full potential of the CEPA. The EU will persist in supporting essential areas, including trade diversification, infrastructure development, and more.-0-
