Armenia not yet evaluated all risks of Customs Union membership: minister
YEREVAN, November 29. /ARKA/. Armenia has not yet evaluated all risks of its participation in the Customs Union (CU) or risks of the signing of an EU free trade agreement, Armenia’s minister of economy Vahram Avanesyan said at the Eastern Partnership forum in Vilnius, Novosti-Armenia reported referring to RIA Novosti.

Earlier, Armenia’s foreign ministry made a statement saying Yerevan will be ready for signing an agreement to join the CU by February.

Loss of even one export market will have serious consequences for Armenia and the best thing would be to continue having open borders with Russia, the EU and the others, the minister said.

Earlier, European officials said the CU membership is incompatible with the EU free trade as it would be impossible to have various customs duties at the same time. –0--
