Armenia plans to open embassy in Cyprus

YEREVAN, July 15. /ARKA/. Armenian Ambassador to Cyprus Tigran Mkrtchyan said that Yerevan is planning to open diplomatic representations in Cyprus capital Nicosia in the near future.
Mkrtchyan announced the news in a conversation with Michalis Michael, the chairman of the Cyprus public broadcaster RIK, according to the Facebook page of the Armenian Embassy in Greece.
Ambassador Mkrtchyan expressed hope that Cyprus will also open a diplomatic office in Armenia in the near future.
The Ambassador spoke about the Cyprus-Armenia-Greece trilateral cooperation, mentioning that within the framework of that cooperation a number of meetings were held that focused on such issues as military, politics and Diaspora.
Ambassador Mkrtchyan expressed deep gratitude to the Republic of Cyprus for the support to Armenia.
In his turn, Michalis said that efforts will be made to further expand and deepen the cooperation with Armenia, including in the area of news reporting and information, and added that RIK also broadcasts daily radio programs specifically for Cypriot Armenians.
The representative of the Armenian-Cypriot community in the Cypriot House of Representatives Vardges Mahtesian also attended the meeting.
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said in a recent interview with the Greek newspaper "Kathimerini" that Armenia, Greece and Cyprus have great potential to contribute to stability, security and peace in the region by strengthening political dialogue and cooperation. -0-
