Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the Azerbaijani President discussed opportunities to further expand economic, trade, and energy cooperation between the two countries.
YEREVAN, August 31. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the Azerbaijani President discussed opportunities to further expand economic, trade, and energy cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting took place on Monday in Bishkek on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, the Armenian government press service reported.
The interlocutors agreed to continue, through direct bilateral contact, steps aimed at strengthening long-term peace, regulating interstate relations, and developing interconnectedness.
Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev noted the export of Azerbaijani petroleum products to Armenia, the transit of grain and other goods from third countries through Azerbaijan to Armenia, and the establishment of trade relations between the two countries as practical manifestations of strengthening peace.
The parties also welcomed contacts between their business communities and exchanged views on opportunities to further expand mutually beneficial economic, trade, and energy cooperation.
Furthermore, Pashinyan and Aliyev discussed further practical steps to implement the Trump Roadmap for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) and emphasized the importance of connectivity projects within its framework.
The interlocutors noted the role of state commissions on the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and the importance of continuing their work in accordance with the agreements reached.
According to the press service of the Armenian government, the parties also emphasized the importance of the Washington Peace Summit held on August 8, 2025, the Joint Declaration, and the initialing of the Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The leaders also commended the contacts involving parliamentarians and civil society representatives aimed at strengthening mutual trust.
